When possible, I will not use disposable bags when shopping, including produce bags.
Food
Choose Reusable Food Storage
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Community
Estimate My Plastic Consumption
I will visit the rePurpose website, complete the 3-minute plastic consumption calculator, and explore how I can reBalance my annual plastic footprint.
Community
Research Local Waste Sites
I will spend 30 minutes finding out where landfills and/or toxic waste sites are situated in my region and which communities are most impacted by these sites.
Lifestyle
Practice Sustainable Fashion
I will spend 30 minutes learning about the costs of fast fashion and begin trying to practice sustainable fashion in my own life.

I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 5 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Personal Care
Practice Sustainable Fashion
I will spend 30 minutes learning about the costs of fast fashion and begin trying to practice sustainable fashion in my own life.
Food
Minimize Packaging
I will purchase food items with the least amount of packaging.
Community
Learn about Plastic Production
Plastic production, not just disposal, pollutes communities and harms people. I will learn about the impacts of plastic production on humans, animals, communities, and the environment.
Family

I will swap out 5 prepackaged snacks a day for fresh fruits or veggies.

Lifestyle
Support a Sharing Economy
I will create or support a sharing economy with family, friends, and neighbors.
Pets
Rubber Glove Pet Hair Removal
I will use a rubber glove to remove pet hair from clothes, carpets and furniture.

Sarah Aiello 7/28/2022 9:08 AMWhat I've learned in this process is that its not that hard to change from buying plastic water bottles to going to putting filtered water in glass reusable bottles instead....takes a bit more time, but well worth it. Also when cleaning, I've been using more natural products like vinegar, lemons, and baking soda....and they work great, smell better, and less expensive too! And last but not least, moving to your own bags for grocery shopping saves a lot of plastic and paper bags in the long run....the hardest part is remembering to bring in the bags to the grocery store! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?
Sarah Aiello 7/25/2022 11:58 AMJust learned that pizza boxes are not recyclable....and I've been tossing them in that bin for the past few years. I will make that change now. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat did you learn about how plastic production impacts humans, animals, communities, and the environment? Which of these impacts specifically affects your community?
Sarah Aiello 7/19/2022 2:07 PMThis was so eye-opening for me. Now I really want to not drink any of my water out of a plastic water bottle. I will now be keeping my water in glass bottles. The health risks are much more than I realized.
