How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

I love to repurpose mason jars and other glass containers (pickle or salsa jars for example) to store things around the house.  I do have small kids, so for things that they might use, I tend to favor metal containers.  For the times when I can't avoid plastic, I try to repurpose the containers in some way.  I've even used old plastic food containers to store small toys like legos.

This is something that is super easy for me to do.  I keep my cloth bags in my car at all times, so even for impromptu store trips, I still have bags that I can use.  I love how much more I can put in my cloth bags.  It saves me trips to and from the car when I am unloading.

With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

I have really become aware of just how much packaging everything comes wrapped in.  Many times it will be a paper box wrapped in plastic with another plastic bag inside of the box containing the food item.  This is so wasteful.  I've started buying bulk items when possible and bringing my own bags to fill.
