REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Meghan Barnett 7/06/2022 6:56 AMGrowing my own garden allows me to not only eat fresh food in the summer and fall, but also preserve it for the rest of the year! Last year was my first opportunity for a large in-ground garden. I only got around to planting 3 of my rows, but was able to can enough tomato products and pickles to still not be buying any from the store. This year I have my whole garden filled to the brim, and every item I pick will be one less thing to purchase. I also make a point to grow unique, heirloom varieties of vegetables and herbs, so I will not only be eating produce that is more nutritious and higher quality than a grocery store can provide, but it also wouldn't be found in a grocery store to begin with! The garden also forces you to be outside tending to it, and the sunshine and bare skin in the dirt is it's own form of healing.
