Brandi's actions

Use Reusables at Work
I will use reusable dishes and silverware when eating at work.

Skip Plastic Bags
When possible, I will not use disposable bags when shopping, including produce bags.
Food
Cook a Plastic Free Meal
I will prepare meals at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Food
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own travel cup.
Food
Plant a Garden
I will plant a herb or vegetable garden using as little plastic as possible and to save from the plastic used buying herbs and veggies.
Food
Go Strawless
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own reusable straw.

Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 1 piece(s) of litter each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodTake time to reflect or meditate over your plastic-free cup of tea. Share your thoughts and reflections with us here!
Brandi Bolyard 7/30/2022 9:02 AMWell since I have switched to loose leaf tea, I bought a cute silicon bunny tea diffuser so I can be smile and know I am saving on plastic. Side note! tea bags are also compostable, so even if you still buy single use tea bags they can be tossed in your compost pile for your garden. :) -
Brandi Bolyard 7/30/2022 6:33 AMOne more day! Don't forget to check in! -
Brandi Bolyard 7/29/2022 7:45 AM2 more days Team Daz! Keep it up!!! -
Brandi Bolyard 7/16/2022 9:53 AMOver half way done with the challenge and I've realized it's kinda fun seeing how my normal eco friendly habits help save the planet. It's also nice to have a little competition once in awhile. :) -
Brandi Bolyard 7/15/2022 11:05 AMGreat job everyone! We have been neck and neck with Team Valentine the past week!! Don't forget to check in daily! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPetsHow are caring for your pet and caring for the environment connected for you?
Brandi Bolyard 7/09/2022 4:02 PMCaring for a pet opens your heart to care for other animals in the community. Take for example, I have a cat at my house, so I felt obligated to take in a Community Cat to the shelter to be spayed. By doing this I helped the Community and the pet population. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Brandi Bolyard 7/09/2022 3:36 PMThe difficult part is remembering my reusable bags in the trunk. I have good intentions by taking them to the car, but I always seem to forget them as I walk into the store. This month I will remember!! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Brandi Bolyard 7/09/2022 11:04 AMPicking up trash should be everybody's responsibility! We all live in this community and it is our job to keep our community clean together. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Brandi Bolyard 7/05/2022 7:56 AMI spend less on groceries. I add more vegetables to my diet by adding my fresh produce to meals. It also helps my mental health! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodSince the restrictions that COVID-19 has required of our society, trying to use your own cup might present new barriers, as well as new opportunities for creative problem solving. How were you able to achieve success on this action? How can you make it a long-term habit?
Brandi Bolyard 7/05/2022 7:43 AMWe bring our own mugs to the work, so this is an easy change because we already implement it in our workplace. The hard part is not using the little red stirrer straws to mix our creamer. I have been using a reusable spoon for that instead.
