I've enjoyed the EcoChallenge and have made many changes in my everyday actions to help in making our earth more plastic free.

I bought lettuce today in bulk without any plastic.  Normally I would have bought a huge plastic container full of lettuce.  It is more work as I can to clean and spin it, but if it helps keep plastic out of the landfill, it's worth the effort!

Today I made my own yogurt for the first time instead of buying it in the huge plastic containers.  No waste  with making my own as I put it in glass bottles.

Instead of using saran wrap, I now use small reusable containers for my lemons, avocados, etc.  Every little effort on my part saves the earth!

I've washed windows and mirrors in my house this week with my Norwex Envirocloth and water, no chemicals, and saved lots of paper towels that would have gone into the landfill.

I definitely think this challenge has helped me to see how much plastic I use each day even when I think I'm being careful.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

I've noticed almost all of the produce items are in plastic.  Today I bought the bulk tomatoes instead of the cherry tomatoes that were only in plastic.  I also bought loose leaf lettuce instead of the king I usually bought in a huge plastic container.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
How does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?

I have talked to more people, whether they want to hear it or not, about the EcoChallenge, and how we can help, by the little things we do each day, to make the earth a cleaner and better place.
