Linda's actions
Food
Minimize Packaging
I will purchase food items with the least amount of packaging.
Food
Choose Reusable Food Storage
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Food
Cook a Plastic Free Meal
I will prepare meals at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Food
Fill a Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 5 piece(s) of litter each day.
Lifestyle
Buy Only What I Need
I will not buy anything except items required for health and safety.
Community
Say No to Styrofoam
Throughout its life cycle, polystyrene (styrofoam) can harm people, communities, and the planet. I will refuse styrofoam whenever I can, making sure to kindly let people know why I'm asking for alternative packaging.
Lifestyle
Ditch Dryer Sheets
I will use wool dryer balls or another plastic-free alternative to dryer sheets to keep my clothes static-free.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Linda Brunk Kosmicky 7/25/2022 3:37 PMI have purchased woven bags to use at the grocery store for produce. and I have my reusable bags in my car for other trips. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWith the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?
Linda Brunk Kosmicky 7/25/2022 3:35 PMThere are a number of single use plastics. My biggest right now is I am receiving Hello Fresh meals that come in a box that has insulation that cannot go in my recycling. As well as plastic ice bags. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Linda Brunk Kosmicky 7/25/2022 3:34 PMMy most used single use are baggies. I try to use reusable containers more but them still are used for some items. I know it would be a big impact to stop using them and have done it through out this month.
