Marietta Cox 7/13/2022 3:47 PMI’ve decided to try saving as much of the plastics that I can’t avoid using this month and make an ecobrick! I’m following this tutorial: https://www.ecobricks.org/how/ -

Marietta Cox 7/06/2022 5:19 PMRather than plastic trash bags for my household waste - I use these plant-based bags from HippoSak! While they do not claim to biodegrade or compost, they reduce CO2 emissions and fossil fuel use in the production process. I also make sure that I fill each bag completely full before taking it out. I do this by saving my food scraps etc in a sealed container in the freezer until I’m ready to take out the trash! For any smaller trash bins around the house I generally skip the bag or use a paper grocery bag if I have any handy. -
Marietta Cox 7/01/2022 6:26 AMI usually bring a pre-packaged snack bar for "granola bar break time" mid-morning to keep me going until lunch! While some companies are now making their packaging recyclable, for this month I am forgoing my snack bar! Today I brought produce and crackers. -
Marietta Cox 6/30/2022 4:10 PMHello team!
I am SO excited to get started tomorrow! Hopefully you’ve had a chance to browse the site a little bit and set up your profile. If not, let me direct you to the “Resources” tab in the upper right corner - this will tell you how to score points!
My biggest tip is to Check In DAILY! You get 25 points just for checking in same day! Even if you didn’t complete any of your actions! All you have to do is sign in to your profile and find the date in a set of green bubbles and click on it. If you have completed an action, clicking on that will serve as your check in for the day!
PRO TIP: Set a daily reminder in your phone to check in each day. Try to pick a time when you know you won’t be swamped with work etc.
Finessing your profile (picture, cover photo, mission statement, etc) will also earn you points. If you haven’t chosen any actions yet and you wish to do so, there is a button on the upper left under your profile avatar that says “Manage Actions.” If you are overwhelmed and need a little help, the button below that is a tutorial! I am also always available to help!
I broke down and got TikTok just so that I could provide videos with captions. My first video isn’t pretty, but it’ll do! It simply talks about expectations for this month - don’t put too much pressure on yourself, we’re here to learn! If you’d like to watch my upcoming content on eco-friendly practices etc, you can follow @brevardaazk on Instagram, Brevard American Association of Zoo Keepers on Facebook, or my new TikTok (yikes) @mossymarietta
Thank you SO much for joining our team and I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish!
