Jennifer's actions
Food
Cook a Plastic Free Meal
I will prepare meals at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Community
Share My Actions
I will make my environmental actions visible by posting to my social media networks.
Food
Purchase imperfect and blemished produce
Purchase foods that are not considered perfect for the grocery store. Purchasing these items saves them from being wasted in the landfill.
Personal Care
A Sustainable Flow
I will make the switch to sustainable, reusable period products.
Community
Research Local Waste Sites
I will spend 30 minutes finding out where landfills and/or toxic waste sites are situated in my region and which communities are most impacted by these sites.
Community
Write Letters, Emails or Sign Petitions
I will write or sign 1 letters, emails or petitions per day to advocate for plastic-free or planet-friendly policies.
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA-approved reusable quart-sized bag.
Community
Become a Recycling Pro
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 30 minutes researching which materials are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community and recycle only those items.
Food
Minimize Packaging
I will purchase food items with the least amount of packaging.
Community
Give Some Green Gratitude
I will give a shout-out on social media to a local company, coworker, friend or family member for their plastic free or green efforts.
Community
Dig into Bioplastics
I will spend at least 30 minutes researching the impacts of bioplastics and how to properly dispose of them in my city, and I will share this information with 5 friends, family, and/or colleagues.
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 5 piece(s) of litter each day.
Personal Care
Pearly Whites
I will switch to a plastic-free toothpaste — whether purchased or DIY'd.
Lifestyle
Buy Only What I Need
I will not buy anything except items required for health and safety.
Personal Care
Brush with Bamboo
I will replace my plastic toothbrush with a bamboo toothbrush.

Jennifer Dagostino 7/17/2022 2:48 PMI have been trying to come up with a sustainable, plastic-free solution to my electric toothbrush. I hate throwing away plastic tooth brush heads. I found a company that makes bamboo electric toothbrushes but the heads fit only the Phillips Sonic care and I have an Oral-B toothbrush. Didn't want to throw away a perfectly good electric toothbrush to the landfill so I did some digging and found another company that sells bamboo toothbrush heads that fit the Oral-B tooth brush! It is a company in Sweden so to make the shipping worthwhile I bought enough of them to last me for a few years at least! Yay, for sustainable electric toothbrushes!

Kelly Dillow 7/18/2022 7:04 AMOooh I have this same issue! I love my oral B electric toothbrush and have been unwilling to switch. Please let me know how you like these toothbrush heads when they arrive!
