  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Edie Dalessio's avatar
    Edie Dalessio 7/28/2022 11:20 AM
You can definitely purchase clothing and accessories in thrift stores at great prices.  You can really show your creativity and personality by "refurbishing" old clothes or  clothes from the thrift store.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care
Currently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?

    Edie Dalessio's avatar
    Edie Dalessio 7/28/2022 11:13 AM
Purchasing power can be very powerful.  I could use social media to make sure my friends and family know what alternatives are available.

This has been a great experience for me.  It has made me so much more aware of my family's plastic use.  I've learned more than I was expecting.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle
What did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?

    Edie Dalessio's avatar
    Edie Dalessio 7/28/2022 11:00 AM
I was surprised at how much waste I was creating.  We are working on our plastic bottle usage - soaps, detergents etc.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
Have you noticed a difference in how your community, friends, and family members use plastics since you've shared your own actions?

    Edie Dalessio's avatar
    Edie Dalessio 7/28/2022 10:58 AM
I have been able to "convert" my parents into using less plastics and to recycle more.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
In what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?

    Edie Dalessio's avatar
    Edie Dalessio 7/28/2022 10:57 AM
Social media gives people the ability to share values with many different people at the same time.  Makes it easier for people from all over "converse" different ideas.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care
What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

    Edie Dalessio's avatar
    Edie Dalessio 7/26/2022 1:03 PM
Bar soaps last longer and are less expensive to begin with so there is a good bit of savings.  It saves on trips to the store as well.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle
What did you learn by making your own cleaning products? What is the biggest difference in making vs buying?

    Edie Dalessio's avatar
    Edie Dalessio 7/26/2022 12:46 PM
By making your own cleaners you save money as well as reduce the number of unnatural chemicals in your home.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle
What are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?

    Edie Dalessio's avatar
    Edie Dalessio 7/26/2022 12:42 PM
Sharing the cooking, the shopping etc can help with time management as well as will waste (saves on gas as well!).  Having a common goal and focus draws people together.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle
What is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?

I makes it easier to bring your favorite products if you are using refillable containers.  Using bar soaps and shampoos make going through TSA a breeze. This will and has been something I will keep doing.
