To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Learn about Plastic Production
What did you learn about how plastic production impacts humans, animals, communities, and the environment? Which of these impacts specifically affects your community?

Plastic production effects everyone and everything- from the toxins to the waste. I’m my community alone just the trash- we’ve already done one community clean up and it’s already trashed again. So encouraging people to not only pick up after themselves but help pick up trash along the way.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Pets Sustainable Suds: Pet Edition
In what ways does your pet make your life happier, more interesting, or more rewarding?

    Kelly Dullanty's avatar
    Kelly Dullanty 7/27/2022 9:51 PM
We have a few pets but they are part of the family and they add joy. Joy to our family and joy to the kids. They give us responsibility and love and are rewarding for he kids cause they get to take ownership.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Pets Invest in a Pooper-Scooper
How are caring for your pet and caring for the environment connected for you?

    Kelly Dullanty's avatar
    Kelly Dullanty 7/25/2022 10:13 PM
When you care for your pet and it’s environment/your environment it sustains it for the future.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Pets DIY Cat Litter
Other species can teach us important lessons about ourselves and life in general. What has your cat taught you?

    Kelly Dullanty's avatar
    Kelly Dullanty 7/24/2022 10:51 PM
Our cat has taught us that they don’t need much to thrive. When we moved here the cat came with the house and we feed him but he comes and goes as he pleases- even leaves ‘treats’ at the front porch for us…

Cat litter is not only filled with chemicals and toxins but it’s bad for pregnant women and men so finding an alternative was easy!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Pets All Natural Pet Toys
In what ways is supplying your pet with all natural pet toys better for your pet, better for you, and better for the environment?

    Kelly Dullanty's avatar
    Kelly Dullanty 7/23/2022 10:08 PM
All natural eliminates chemicals and toxins when making the toy and when handling. I believe animals don’t need any toys bought, with kids or even around the house there’s always something for them to play with- saving $$ and from buying something more.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle Practice Sustainable Fashion
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Kelly Dullanty's avatar
    Kelly Dullanty 7/23/2022 10:05 PM
Create your own trends. Ask my wife- without fast fashion or buying new clothes and accessories I have gone thru many phases. Kilts, arm bands, long socks, vests… I mix it up and keep my look reflective of me and my
    Personality.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle Complete a Waste Audit
What did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?

    Kelly Dullanty's avatar
    Kelly Dullanty 7/22/2022 10:31 PM
The most waste we create is in the kitchen for sure. We can reduce by eating what’s ordered or making snacks.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle Homemade Cleaners
What did you learn by making your own cleaning products? What is the biggest difference in making vs buying?

    Kelly Dullanty's avatar
    Kelly Dullanty 7/22/2022 10:29 PM
I’ve been interested in this for awhile. You tube and social media are my go to’s.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle Clean Plate Club
How easy was this swap for you? Did you have any concerns before making it?

    Kelly Dullanty's avatar
    Kelly Dullanty 7/20/2022 9:55 PM
Not a lot of concerns- excited for an action towards the direction we were already headed as a family. Only make and eat what we need, leftovers get eaten. Nothing wasted.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Say No to Styrofoam
How might styrofoam be an environmental justice and/or environmental racism issue in your community?

    Kelly Dullanty's avatar
    Kelly Dullanty 7/19/2022 9:36 PM
Due to the lack of knowledge of certain items and waste, styrofoam can be a hot topic for some. The battle between styrofoam or plastic. Then to get others to make the switch to paper or reusable items… change is hard and can push people when they aren’t ready.

For now we can do our part and share what we know. Knowledge is key!
