REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
Samantha Halter 7/28/2022 2:24 PMIt is a subtle way to just remind your friends/followers what is important to you. And sometimes those posts may spark a change in someone else, an unlikely acquaintance. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Samantha Halter 7/28/2022 9:14 AMYes, I have noticed that Baltimore City Restaurants that I visit are more likely to not use plastic straws anymore. However, I live in the county and I have not seen practiced as often. I have actually been surprised by the number of times we go to a restaurant and ask for water and it arrives with a straw already in the glass. Its a nice opportunity to speak up about the use of straws. With that knowledge, I often now request no straw off the bat. -
Samantha Halter 7/26/2022 8:02 AMDecorated for a birthday party with things I had around the house and made a few things from supplies (construction paper, string and paper clips) I already owned.-

Samantha Halter 7/20/2022 7:45 AMSome things are unavoidable but I have noticed an uptick at certain locations such as some baked goods are now packaged in paper bags vs plastic and eggs now in cardboard cartons vs Styrofoam. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal CareHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Samantha Halter 7/13/2022 10:05 AMStyling different wardrobe pieces with unlikely pieces can help express yourself. Also hairstyles, make up or tattoos. -

Samantha Halter 7/13/2022 8:33 AMNot sure if this is everywhere they sell their beer but it was at their Open Gate Brewery. Still- very exciting! Hope to see more breweries use these in the future! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHave you noticed a difference in how your community, friends, and family members use plastics since you've shared your own actions?
Samantha Halter 7/07/2022 10:28 AMI recently reposted suggestions for planning an eco-friendly party, such as fresh flowers for decorations instead of balloons or having a drink dispenser instead of individual plastic bottle drinks. And I was pleasantly surprised at how many people said that they would make some of the swaps suggested. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Samantha Halter 7/07/2022 10:25 AMI like to reuse spaghetti sauce jars/pickle jars to store other food items, as well as, various household items such as loose hardware. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
