Cory's actions
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA-approved reusable quart-sized bag.
Family
Discover Together
I will spend 15 minutes educating my family on the basics of living a reduced/no-plastic lifestyle.
Lifestyle
KEEP IT UPCYCLE
Post to our Team APE feed about an item that you "upcycled" or "creatively reused" and thereby avoided consuming plastic associated with buying a new item and having that item sent to you/your area!
Food
Switch to Loose Leaf Tea
Because many tea bags and most sleeves and sachets contain plastic, I will switch to using loose leaf tea.
Food
Fill a Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 10 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Food
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 5 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own travel cup.
Food
Better Gum
I will give up gum or choose gum made from chicle or other plastic-free gum bases.
Lifestyle
Buy Only What I Need
I will not buy anything except items required for health and safety.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodUsing the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?
Cory Johnson 7/29/2022 11:10 AMI believe in signing petitions against corporations that disregard those they sell to. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodSince the restrictions that COVID-19 has required of our society, trying to use your own cup might present new barriers, as well as new opportunities for creative problem solving. How were you able to achieve success on this action? How can you make it a long-term habit?
Cory Johnson 7/27/2022 12:38 PMI keep 2 reusable cups at work so that I do not contribute to more waste. Having cool collectable cups will help me want to show off my reusable usage -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhy do you chew gum? What habits could replace and meet your reasons for chewing gum?
Cory Johnson 7/27/2022 12:29 PMI used to chew to have something to chew on in between meals also for fresher breath. But now I use solely breath mints instead
