Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Since the restrictions that COVID-19 has required of our society, trying to use your own cup might present new barriers, as well as new opportunities for creative problem solving. How were you able to achieve success on this action? How can you make it a long-term habit?

Using a personal cup has been second nature to me, even before Covid. When working in groups of multiple people, especially in the medical field, having a drink available is key so each person had their own cup. this has helped benefit to making it a life long habit for myself and my family
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

    Cynthia Link-Kinney's avatar
    Cynthia Link-Kinney 7/25/2022 10:05 AM
Reusing containers is something my whole family does. Whenever we have takeout the containers must be reusable plastic and if we go anywhere for dinner we will take a container for leftovers to avoid getting a styrofoam container.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

there are many more people choosing reusable straws on a regular basis The sale of reusable straws can be seen in every store to encourage people to switch.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

    Cynthia Link-Kinney's avatar
    Cynthia Link-Kinney 7/25/2022 9:52 AM
When shopping I have noticed that many products are now being packaged in reusable plastic containers instead of styrofoam to help the environment
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care
Even though they are marketed as "flushable," disposable wipes do not disintegrate in water or the sewer system, and actually release microplastics into our waterways. How does it feel to learn this information? What do you want to do about it?

The misleading labels and advertisements are used to blind people to the truth of what they are really doing while believing it is helping the environment. Many people by these products for the convenience without true knowledge, I try to inform friends & family of the truth in hopes that they will also spread the correct information.

This was a fairly easy switch for our family. We have limited the amount of disposable containers throughout the house and adding another was easy.
