Katie's actions
Food
Choose Reusable Food Storage
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Family
Discover Together
I will spend 10 minutes educating my family on the basics of living a reduced/no-plastic lifestyle.
Lifestyle
Proper Bioplastic Disposal
I will spend at least 20 minutes researching how to properly dispose of bioplastics in my city and share this information with 6 friends, family, and/or colleagues.
Lifestyle
Travel Eating
If traveling, I will bring my own snacks and meals in my own containers to avoid the waste of take-out containers.
Personal Care
Say No to "Flushable Wipes"
Wipes don't break down in sewer systems, but combine with fat to create massive clogs. I will find alternatives to using disposable wipes.
Family
Plastic Free Lunch Boxes
I will only pack reusable cutlery, drinkware and tupperware-like containers in my children's lunches to reduce plastic waste.
Food
Skip Plastic Bags
When possible, I will not use disposable bags when shopping, including produce bags.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Katie Long 7/05/2022 9:04 AMI struggle to remember my reusable bags, especially when I need to run to the store in the middle or after work. To help retrain my brain, I am putting my lunchbox/mask/waterbottle in my shopping bag and bringing it into work with me so I always have one near by and in an area I can physically see. I also stashed an extra in my car so if I take one into unload and forget it, I have back up!
