  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family
Does your child play differently with natural or repurposed toys than with other toys? If so, how?

    Margaret Marsalka's avatar
    Margaret Marsalka 7/28/2022 12:19 PM
They seem to play more gently with wooden and natural toys, I love it!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family
How do environmental health, community health, and your family's health intersect?

    Margaret Marsalka's avatar
    Margaret Marsalka 7/28/2022 12:15 PM
All work together to keep us safe and healthy. It 100% makes sense that what is best/healthiest for my family is also healthiest for the environment.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family
What did you and your family learn about environmental justice? What questions came up for you? What feelings?

    Margaret Marsalka's avatar
    Margaret Marsalka 7/28/2022 12:14 PM
I felt incredibly frustrated. I felt that there is so much more that could be done with top down support.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
In what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?

    Margaret Marsalka's avatar
    Margaret Marsalka 7/27/2022 12:01 PM
Definitely seem to be located more frequently in or adjacent to low-income communities. I'm sure this brings down property values as well!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
Landfills and recycling centers tell us a lot about our communities and purchasing habits. What did you glean from your tour?

    Margaret Marsalka's avatar
    Margaret Marsalka 7/27/2022 12:00 PM
I did a virtual tour, I was amazed at the sheer volume of waste processed daily.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
What did you learn about bioplastic production and disposal? Did anything surprise you? Are bioplastics accepted by your city's waste management?

    Margaret Marsalka's avatar
    Margaret Marsalka 7/27/2022 12:00 PM
I was amazed how little our city does to address this! I thought there was more behind the waste management piece of it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle
What is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?

    Margaret Marsalka's avatar
    Margaret Marsalka 7/27/2022 11:59 AM
This is such a life saver! It's eco friendly but also much more convenient to full something I already have than to add another errand like running to target to buy more little size toiletries before a trip,
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Pets
Other species can teach us important lessons about ourselves and life in general. What has your cat taught you?

    Margaret Marsalka's avatar
    Margaret Marsalka 7/27/2022 11:58 AM
To take time to rest and enjoy the day!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Pets
In what ways does your pet make your life happier, more interesting, or more rewarding?

    Margaret Marsalka's avatar
    Margaret Marsalka 7/27/2022 11:58 AM
It brings me joy to see them so happy! A wagging tail makes my day :)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Pets
In what ways is supplying your pet with all natural pet toys better for your pet, better for you, and better for the environment?

    Margaret Marsalka's avatar
    Margaret Marsalka 7/27/2022 11:57 AM
Yes! I feel better knowing that what they're chewing on isn't potentially harmful. How often do they swallow a little on accident?! This eases my mind.
