REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal CareHow can having access to zero waste period products help people who menstruate overcome barriers to education or other opportunities?
Jonelle Meyer 7/30/2022 2:24 PMProviding a necessity to someone that might not have access to these products really feels great. What a wonderful way to help someone! I can only imagine that it could instill a level of confidence that person may not have otherwise had. Having products like these are as essential as food and water. I feel privileged to have the resources that I have. -
Jonelle Meyer 7/30/2022 2:19 PMI did a lot of reusing of items today. :) -

REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyleWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Jonelle Meyer 7/29/2022 3:46 PMMy biggest concern about this particular topic is that at an attempt to make a change that helps the planet, we've actually just complicated things more. I can't even find any information on how one should dispose of bioplastics in my area. I know they cannot be recycled in our single-stream recycling because mine is through the city which does not even take regular plastic cutlery. They are meant to be composted, but where? And I read that the landfill is the worst spot but I wouldn't know what to do with them if I couldn't just trash them. Happy to be learning but hate the added frustrations the new information brings. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
Jonelle Meyer 7/29/2022 3:35 PMAlthough social media sometimes feels like an evil beast, it still serves as incredible resource to reach like-minded people and create a platform for change. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow might styrofoam be an environmental justice and/or environmental racism issue in your community?
Jonelle Meyer 7/29/2022 3:24 PMI was actually somewhat thrown by this question at first but now that I have dug deeper to understand what it is asking, wow. What a thing to learn about. Systemic racism can be found in all areas of our lives and this is not one I had ever thought of. This could (and I'm sure is) an issue in my community. It might be a small step, but continuing to be a conscious consumer feels like the best step we can all take to shut down these practices of creating more plastics which in turn are killing us, and for those of the BIPOC community, at an exponentially higher rate. -
Jonelle Meyer 7/28/2022 10:51 AMThe info I learned about bioplastics today was pretty unfortunate. It's great to see people looking for solutions but above all, reduce your (single) use seems to always be the best way to go. Bioplastics are not always the best choice. :/ -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Jonelle Meyer 7/28/2022 10:39 AMHaving our own garden gives us a wonderful reason to connect with nature, be active and help to beautify our community. We are excited to plant some milkweed to provide for migrating monarchs! -
