REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Jesse Oropeza 7/07/2022 9:31 AMThere has definitely been a huge shift at most of the stores I work with. At first people were continuing to ask for straws with their drinks. However, over time, with more exposure and them not routinely receiving them with their drink, it became more of a habit it use the straw less lid. An impact I have made is noting which customers ask for a straw so they can stir their caramel macchiato around. That way I can ask them "do you want that upside down" on their next visit. Many of them, including Kayla and employee at my store who gets an iced caramel macchiato everyday, don't know about this option and get excited when they hear about it! -
Jesse Oropeza 7/06/2022 1:24 PMMy plastic free ecochallenge is going great! I've been bringing my reusable cup to work everyday. This saves me from using roughly two plastic cups and straws everyday. This adds up to roughly 14 cups and straws a week and 730 a year. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodUsing the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?
Jesse Oropeza 7/06/2022 1:14 PMCurrently, I am working with my store director to come up with ways to get our employees to use reusable water bottles. Everyday, they come up and ask for water cups, sometimes twice a day. Getting them to purchase a reusable cup or gifting them one is something we are working one. Our goal is to get everyone using a reusable cup. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyleWhat is your favorite reusable cup and why?
Jesse Oropeza 7/04/2022 12:14 PMMy favorite reusable cup is my forest green stainless steel cup. I love the color and that it keeps my drinks cold!-
