REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat was your strategy in talking with your favorite restaurant's management? Did you find it to be effective?
Maggie Ostdahl 7/25/2022 10:07 AMIf I order takeout, I always pay attention to the packaging and try to direct my business to places that limits or eliminates unnecessary plastic even without regulations by that city or state (which let's be honest, helps). I also always ask for no utensils, sauce packets, etc - and while I tend to skip the middlemen delivery services, I've still called some (looking at you, Toast Tab) to encourage they participate in #CuttheCutlery and similar campaigns. Meanwhile my favorite Thai place foregoes plastic containers, but still needs to work on utensils. When I call to order, I ask for no utensils but invariably they are still put in the paper bag by busy staff. This time I tried also writing a review on Yelp - praised the food and the staff, complained about their defaulting to unnecessary plastic waste. We'll see if it moves the needle... -
