What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

Recycling the proper way has always been a concern for me. I have reviewed my cities guidelines and was encouraged to learn there are more items I could be including on recycling day ie gardening plant containers However I decided to return these to the nursery where the plants were purchased so they can be reuse instead of recycled.

I have to say I am discouraged. While I have bought and am using loose tea now.
I have followed through with the fast fashion I even purchased sports socks made from plastic bottles. But so many of the companies on here are from the US.  I wonder is there merit in buying my soap and other items from companies so far away. I am NOW checking Canadian sites for more sustainable products.

I don't know if this will work for you, but I've been buying products like my shampoo bars from local vendors on Etsy. This shop operates right here in Toronto, and ships with sustainable packaging: https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/PlantishFuture?ref=usf_2020.

Well It is on going education for me. Shocking that Plastics are everywhere. Have reflected on this and for me it will be the little steps I can take in my own life. Life plastic free Teas. Going to continue to research this further and make sure my family is aware of the plastic in the tea bags. Well I have always made use of recycled fashion Hand me downs for the kids and myself . I would use recycled cloths for Crafts, even Halloween outfits too.
I did realize synthetics came from fossil fuels. The impact is heartbreaking for our planet.  This journey has taught me to reflect on the origin of materials used in the cloths as well as their quality and endurance. Buy cloths for now and make them last for the future.Recycle when I can and swap items too.
