How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

I have tupperware from more that 50 years ago.  I had tupperware parties back then & I took my points as free tupperware products.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
What did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?

Almost everything on these lists, I had been doing for as much as 50 years.  The main thing that I have added is using small cloth bags (which I was given on my travels over the years) when buying loose produce at the grocery.  ie. I have Tupperware that I purched more than 50 years ago, which I am still using.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Do an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

Because of the curbside piskup, my neighborhood seems to be very used to recycling.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
How can you be an advocate for using reusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable food packaging or eating utensils, and how can you convince them of the need for change?

I only use metal utensils that I have had for more than 50 years.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

In my area, the recycling is mostly curbside.  THe truck comes once a week.  Paper nad  plastics are put into the bin together.  They are separated at the county facility.
