Lifestyle
KEEP IT UPCYCLE
Post to our Team APE feed about an item that you "upcycled" or "creatively reused" and thereby avoided consuming plastic associated with buying a new item and having that item sent to you/your area!
Food
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own travel cup.
Food
Use Reusables at Work
I will use reusable dishes and silverware when eating at work.
Food
Minimize Packaging
I will purchase food items with the least amount of packaging.
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA-approved reusable quart-sized bag.
Food
Fill a Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Food
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 1 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Personal Care
That Was a Close Shave
I will replace my disposable razors with steel razors.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodIt is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?
Shannon Prior 7/12/2022 9:35 AMI think leading by example is the best way to raise the consciousness of others around the issue of single use plastics. For instance, I always bring my water bottle when going out to lunch with co-workers so that I don't need a plastic cup. I also bring my coffee mug when getting coffee with co-workers. I'll usually mention that I'm working on cutting down on my plastic use. I like to think that my actions plant a small, non-confrontational seed in the minds of my friends and co-workers so that they will start thinking about ways that they can cut down on their use of the plastics.
