  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Alejandro S's avatar
    Alejandro S 7/26/2022 8:15 AM
What concerns me the most about how we are affecting the planet is the change is global temperatures. The changes have been getting more noticeable every year and is getting to the point where we might make irreversible problems.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family
How can you take your commitment to sustainable living beyond yourself and your family? How can you, personally, work toward broader change?

    Alejandro S's avatar
    Alejandro S 7/26/2022 8:11 AM
In order to work towards broader change rather than individual change is to go to public officials and let them know what differences they can make in order to be more eco friendly
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care
What are the benefits of switching to bamboo toothbrushes? How would you implore others in your community to make this switch as well?

    Alejandro S's avatar
    Alejandro S 7/25/2022 9:42 AM
I am currently using a plastic electric toothbrush and am thinking of making the change to bamboo. The benefit of doing so will reduce my plastic waste over time
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care
Currently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?

    Alejandro S's avatar
    Alejandro S 7/25/2022 9:40 AM
A way to reduce the waste is by advocating towards the change to zero waste toothpaste. Let the community know that it works just as well as generic toothpaste brands and helps the environment
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care
Disposable tampons and menstrual pads are often quite expensive. What are the economic and personal benefits of this switch for you?

    Alejandro S's avatar
    Alejandro S 7/25/2022 9:39 AM
While I have not personally done the switch myself, I did talk to my mom about the economic and personal benefits. She said she will make more efforts to get reusable period products so that she may help the environment and reduce her expenses
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care
How can you advocate for the importance of reducing packaging to the rest of your friends, family and larger community?

    Alejandro S's avatar
    Alejandro S 7/25/2022 9:35 AM
We can advocate for the importance of reducing packaging by letting your friends and family know the environmental impacts of single use packaging and the amount of waste it creates.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care
How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

    Alejandro S's avatar
    Alejandro S 7/25/2022 9:33 AM
Fast fashion creates a constant need to replace the clothing that is in style and creates waste with the clothing that is no longer in style. By reusing your clothes, you are able to come up with unique styles that no one else can replicate.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Personal Care
What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

    Alejandro S's avatar
    Alejandro S 7/25/2022 9:32 AM
The economic benefit of switching to bar soap and refillable bottles is that there is less plastic waste. By reusing the bottle, this cuts down on plastic consumption over time
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
In what neighborhoods or areas of your region are landfills or other waste sites located? Which communities are most affected by these locations?

    Alejandro S's avatar
    Alejandro S 7/25/2022 9:28 AM
The local waste sites around me are near the water. This is concerning because it makes me wonder if they are dumping the waste into the ocean or the bay
