REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat did you learn about how plastic production impacts humans, animals, communities, and the environment? Which of these impacts specifically affects your community?
Josh Schwartz 7/29/2022 11:06 AMThe production of plastics causes pellets to be released into local waterways which birds and fish consume. This harms the animals in my community by poisoning them and they need to live in a habitat which can provide nutrition to them rather than pollution. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamilyHow can you and your little one exercise your creativity without creating more plastic waste?
Josh Schwartz 7/29/2022 11:04 AMActivities can be done with pre-owned costumes or imagination to prevent an unnecessary accumulation of plastic waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPetsDoes making your own pet food seem like a habit you can keep up in the long term? What else can you do to reduce your use of plastic packaging that can come from taking care of your pet's needs?
Josh Schwartz 7/15/2022 6:46 AMMaking your own pet food is definitely a challenge. But getting rid of single use poop bags at parks and encouraging people to bring their own devices to pick up after their pet would lead to a decrease in waste. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow might styrofoam be an environmental justice and/or environmental racism issue in your community?
Josh Schwartz 7/14/2022 6:11 AMStyrofoam is a product that is not recyclable and creating more and more of it is just going to lead to waste. In my community there could be a ban on Styrofoam to prevent further waste ending up in landfills. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal CareCurrently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?
Josh Schwartz 7/13/2022 8:28 AMI can start by purchasing specialized toothpastes with zero waste packaging and advocating for them to be sold at my local stores.-
Olivia Beebe 7/14/2022 5:43 AMI always make sure to tell my friend and family about my alternative toothpastes and encourage them try mine out in hopes that they will make the switch with me!

REFLECTION QUESTIONFamilyWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Josh Schwartz 7/08/2022 7:17 AMI am utterly distraught by the use of single use plastics. It is disappointing that recycling and composting is not as accessible as it should be. I believe the Cleveland Clinic should start a composting bin in every cafeteria and food location. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyleWhat is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?
Josh Schwartz 7/08/2022 7:16 AMThis prevents unnecessary plastic waste from going into the ocean. Single use plastic is the BANE of our existence. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPetsHow are caring for your pet and caring for the environment connected for you?
Josh Schwartz 7/06/2022 9:22 AMMy pet's environment is also my own and by keeping my environment safer and more sustainable my pet will also have an improved environment that is cleaner. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWith the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?
Josh Schwartz 7/06/2022 9:19 AMIt is frustrating that many plastics found in grocery stores are not recyclable. It would be easier if companies found a way to create their packaging out of commonly recycled plastics if they choose to use it as a source of packaging. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityHow might thinking creatively help us address big systems problems - like plastic pollution - differently?
Josh Schwartz 7/06/2022 9:17 AMI think that creative solutions will allow us to find unique and fun solutions that more people would be willing to participate in.
