Mark's actions
Food
Choose Reusable Food Storage
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 10 piece(s) of litter each day.
Lifestyle
Travel Eating
If traveling, I will bring my own snacks and meals in my own containers to avoid the waste of take-out containers.
Food
Advocate For Better Food Packaging
I will advocate for alternatives to single use packaging at local grocery stores, markets, or work.
Community
Join a Cleanup Effort
I will host or participate in a beach, highway, river, or other cleanup effort in my community that follows the CDC’s current guidelines for prevention of disease transfer.
Food
Skip Plastic Bags
When possible, I will not use disposable bags when shopping, including produce bags.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Mark Swingle 7/31/2022 10:50 AMCongratulations everyone for your plastic reduction efforts in July! Final day of FloydFest on the mountain - plastic free party on!! -
Mark Swingle 7/22/2022 8:35 PMIn Buena Vista Colorado picking up plastic waste at more than 10,000 feet! Disappointed that they do not have recycling available anywhere, but over all a very clean community. Very fun to share the PFJ message throughout my travels. Cheers to the team - great work to all!! -

Mark Swingle 7/12/2022 4:22 AMHope everyone is having a great PFJ! The July 4th parade in my neighborhood has devolved into a massive water balloon battle - mostly by the adults! The result is thousands of pieces of burst balloons everywhere! Some of the participants help with cleanup, but only a small percentage. The plus side for me is that I have plenty of opportunities to pick up pieces every day to fulfill one of my PFJ challenges! Keep up the great work by the Team! Cheers -
Mark Swingle 7/01/2022 12:45 PMFirst day of PFJ and excited to be checking in and starting off the month! If any of you team members would like to support a plastic bag fee in Virginia Beach to reduce single-use plastic bags, please attend the City Council meeting on July 5 at 6 pm and support the issue. You can sign up to speak in support, just show up to show support (your presence would be great!), and/or send an email message to City Council. Let's get this important legislation in support of sustainability initiated in Virginia Beach! Cheers All -
