I have been inspired be the Eco challenge to find a source for purchasing reusable/bulk container products. Thus far, I see available options are 3X the cost of current products I use. I will continue to search for ways to reduce my waste.

I discovered that my largest area of waste lies within my grocery shopping and cooking habits so I have started shopping at Whole Foods now which has made a meaningful difference.  The majority of the items that I buy are fresh fruits and vegetables and Whole Foods offers a wide variety of non-packaged fresh produce that I can just put into my...

Starbucks star rewards for using my own mug has inspired me to continue using my own mug even if the rewards program is discontinued.

Skipping the plastic bags is a meaningful way to reduce plastic use.  I took my own bags to appropriate stores or, when I forgot and only had a few items I told the clerk that I didn't need a bag.  When I do have plastic bags from stores on hand I find meaningful ways to reuse them - like for trash collection, etc. so at least they are being...

I spent a lot of time researching overall recycling guidelines as well as recycling guidelines for our local recycling vendor and I learned a lot about "recycling contamination" which, unfortunately, causes a good percentage of items thrown into recycling bins to actually end up being placed in landfills so I am now fully following...

Recycling Pro Tips: 1. Typically, regardless of service, items that can be recycled need to be at least the size of a credit card 2. You can leave plastic caps on clean & dry plastic bottles so that they can be recycled

With living at the beach I am concerned about the overuse of plastic and the resulting pollution which effects both the environment and living organisms.  This month of fact finding has caused me to rethink some of my core usage/consumption/shopping patterns towards making more sustainable long-term choices.  If everyone would just be willing...
