I learned a lot and really enjoyed giving this a try.  I found actions that I have made habits - using my refillable water bottle, reusable bags at the store (even for produce!), skipping the straw, and I am using glass containers instead of plastic bags for food storage.  Lastly, I learned how to make some minor alterations to clothing so I can upcycle my own clothing or used clothing instead of buying new, and it is so much fun!  Thanks for the challenge - how did Maryland Zoo finish?

I've enjoyed the EcoChallenge and have made many changes in my everyday actions to help in making our earth more plastic free.

The end of the month signifies the beginning of regular changes to plastic use, starting with laundry.  No more big plastic bottles.  Need to cut back on plastic soda bottles, too.

How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

Using accessories that I have in my closet with different outfits helps to create different looks with my existing clothes       Shopping your closet is always an adventure.

In what ways is supplying your pet with all natural pet toys better for your pet, better for you, and better for the environment?

Keeping the chemicals out of my pets system is a big concern for me and by using natural materials we also reduce overall consumption of chemicals.

This action helps us to make use of both natural resources, even sometimes in the form of old, worn household objects to entertain our pets. To my dog, nothing says playtime more than a worn cotton pillowcase smelling of her favorite people!

This year was a little tougher to keep up with the challenge but still educational for me and gave me ideas of how to improve my efforts

How does buying used differ from buying new? How does each purchasing decision make you feel?

Buying used allows another life for the item and a reduction of gas use for new product moving to a store to replenish inventory.  It makes me feel proud that i make a small contribution to reducing emissions.
