Spoke to family about the use of less plastic .
  • July 29 at 7:13 AM
I use roughly 64.13 kg of plastic per year, which is less than an average American, but more than an average European. I suppose that didn't surprise me, but I think our country has a lot of work today regarding plastic used in food production and eating more fresh produce/buying in bulk,

It makes me feel great! Every time we canoe/kayak in the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, we find a lot of litter/trash left, usually from the "party day" Saturday floaters. We always bring extra trash bags and grab as much we can out of the river/off the gravel bars to help protect the ecology of the spring fed rivers and streams.

My plastic free eco challenge is going well! I love helping the environment!

After the plastic-free ecochallenge 3 years ago I made a lot of changes; dropped plastic bottles for shampoo, conditioner, hand/body/dish soaps, and detergents (laundry and dishwasher). Stopped using plastic toothpaste and mouthwash tubes, and instead use Bite Toothpaste products. We've since switched to re-useable silicone snack and sandwich...

This challenge was easy. This city does not authorize plastic disposable bags to be used by grocery stores under nominal circumstances. It's paper bags for 5 cents a pop, or bring your own canvas or recycled materials bags, or buy them from the store for an average of a dollar each.  Some stores here credit you for bringing your own bags. I...

Go Yeti!!  It's easy and better......carry it with you wherever you go.

We made a boxcar for my son's Kiddie Derby today and skipped the glitter opting for paint, paper stickers, and bulletin board borders.

Razors in general are just a revenue stream that creates a waste stream. Some waste streams are larger than others, and disposable razors, including the cartridges are generally unnecessary. Years ago, I switched to a combination of an electric razor that can have its blades sharpened or replaced when they are too worn out for repair, and...

It is more the processing and subsequent disposal of plastics that can cause harm. It is up to us to find ways to avoid use, or, perhaps more appropriately, given the growth and necessity of items that may not be made any other way, creatively reuse what we have to extend its service life to the maximum. Our biggest source of recycling...
