This is a thought I come back to often, but have a harder time sticking to. I think I often forget how the little things add up at the end of the day.

This year, it has been really busy, and I haven't gotten on to my dashboard as frequently as I would like. I am always thinking about the plastic I use and how to reduce my use of plastic and waste in general. It is always an ongoing process that will continue until I feel I have reached my goals.

By using accessories that I have, most of which I have acquired through grandmothers' collections and antique stores, I am more free to mix and match my wardrobe. I generally like to have tops and bottoms that are in plain colors to allow more outfit options. If I feel the need to purchase "new" clothes, I check out the local thrift...

No plastic this AM, since I ate homemade bread. Well - plastic from the peanut butter container...but I'm planning to ditch that and fill my own containers with the stuff going forward...so one step closer to sustainability!

I brought my rëfillable thermos on a flight and  was informed they could not fill lt for me... will drink a lot in the terminal and bring a full container next time!

This has been probably the most disheartening challenge so far this month- because it keeps being a matter of the lesser between evils, rather than any choice I feel happy with. I'm trying to avoid any single-use foods, which helps mitigate the waste, but so much is packaged in plastic!

I have some reusable silicone ziploc bags that I like to use. I have a few different sizes.. They are good for quite a bit of things but they aren't the easiest to clean.

Until a few months ago, we always took our waste to the landfill sites ourselves. (We have since switched to a trash service) I never went to these sites, but have recently been going more to take recycling and larger items that don't fit in the trash can. For the most part they are in areas with a pretty large space between them and anyone...

A lot of places I frequent did go single-use only for a while, so there's an element of social awkwardness with asking to use my own mug without being sure it's ok. I had to face that at Monuts the other day to get an iced latte, and I can confirm that they will use your container as long as you can take the top off for them!

I've definitely have noticed a shift away from offering straws unprompted, especially in local/small businesses, since I was a kid! I think straws have become a bit of a scapegoat for a lot of places though, where the 'strawless' options increase the plastic in the cup itself... At what point is it a net effect of 0?
