July 31 at 10:48 PMAs i reflect on this month and the changes that i hope to keep, some will be easy; switching from disposable shavers to steel ones. May add a little more time while i shave but it will be one way that i can do my part in keeping it plastic out of dumps/waste stations and hopefully out of ocean. Not having disposable water bottles in my truck,...

July 31 at 2:08 PMI have several cats living with me. Each one with his or her personality. My Mom's cat came to me underweight and anxious. Patience and time helped us learn to trust one another. Since then, she has calmed around me and I can interact with her.

July 31 at 2:05 PMMy kitchen is still the biggest generator of trash. Most of it is recycled. Attempting to purchase items that are not packaged in the heavy plastic and bought mesh bags for produce. This means changing eating habits too. There's room for reduction though... as I use up products I have, I will be replacing with more ecofriendly options. Might...

July 30 at 3:33 PMToday, I took my rising 9th grader "back to school" shopping. Instead of "fast fashion" we went to Rag-o-Rama, a local consignment shop. It was PERFECT! As a kid that's been in school uniforms from K - 8, this is the first time he has been able to really explore his sense of fashion. We brought our own bag, and the lady...

July 29 at 8:17 PMOh man! Old habits die HARD sometimes. I went to the grocery store today after work and I totally forgot about this. It wasn't until I got home and I was putting my food away and I was mortified! After almost a month of doing REALLY WELL, I drew a complete BLANK today. I'm at least grateful for the awareness. And now, my goal is to get as...

July 28 at 8:53 PMThe local waste site is actually VERY near my house, in my community. I learned that we can take recyclables FOR FREE! I've been in my house for 15 years and I never knew that. I haven't signed up for recycling with my trash service because it's an extra expense. But now I know I have another option. But to the question, I live in a...

July 28 at 8:49 PMI learned a lot... some of what I've learned was super disturbing but mostly, I'd say this experience has been inspiring and enlightening. I appreciate the push to think more about how my family's choices impact the environment. I also have some cool new plastic-free products in my rotation that I didn't before.

July 25 at 7:15 PMThis past weekend was TOUGH! My kids and I traveled for our family reunion and I was NOT prepared. Although i had in my mind all the things I was going to do and pack to show that I've got this thing DOWN... well, yeah. Let's just say, I accomplished none of that. I didn't pack my straws or my water bottles to refill. I ended up getting...

July 25 at 6:55 AMI am disappointed that the doggie bags I use for pet waste are not as eco-friendly as I thought they were. I don't use disposable dishes often, but will consider what they are made of in the future and just how compostable they really are. We recycle most things in Federal Way. There are several options for electronics, plastic film types and...
