  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Estimate My Plastic Consumption
What did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?

    Jordyn Garnett's avatar
    Jordyn Garnett 7/26/2022 6:12 PM
Really showed me in perspective how much estimated plastic I use in a year, it made me think about all the other people in the world and then added them together, so I was very surprised as to how the numbers really added up .
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Host a Watch Party
How does hosting a watch party help you to get to know your guests, connect them to the cause you are focusing on, and build your community?

    Jordyn Garnett's avatar
    Jordyn Garnett 7/26/2022 6:07 PM
It shows them the true impact of pollution and how recycling and reducing plastic use is such a big deal. The media does little to nothing to show the major impacts it’s causing. So a watch party to really inform them of pollution could possibly have them change their ways.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Community Tour A Waste Management Facility
Landfills and recycling centers tell us a lot about our communities and purchasing habits. What did you glean from your tour?

    Jordyn Garnett's avatar
    Jordyn Garnett 7/26/2022 6:06 PM
That there are many ways to eliminate trash, such as it either being recycled, going into landfills, incinerated. The most effective would be everyone recycling so when it goes to a waste management facility they don’t have to pick all of it out or have the possibility of missing lots of plastic that end up in landfills.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Go Strawless
Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

    Jordyn Garnett's avatar
    Jordyn Garnett 7/17/2022 6:52 PM
Yes, a big example of reusable straws are not the metal ones but the paper straws people and corporations are now starting to use in their drinks. Many people dislike the paper draws as they sort of fall apart in their drinks causing them to want a new straw or plastic ones brought back.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Fill a Water Bottle
Using the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?

    Jordyn Garnett's avatar
    Jordyn Garnett 7/17/2022 6:51 PM
Possibly help them reach their arguments or help their arguments be heard when corporations do not listen, or help the locals with new ways they can drink their water safely.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Use a Reusable Mug
Since the restrictions that COVID-19 has required of our society, trying to use your own cup might present new barriers, as well as new opportunities for creative problem solving. How were you able to achieve success on this action? How can you make it a long-term habit?

    Jordyn Garnett's avatar
    Jordyn Garnett 7/17/2022 6:50 PM
Making sure my cup stays clean, and making sure if I were to bring my cup anywhere to clean before and after getting something to drink with it. I can make it long term as it is a lot more efficient than using one use cups
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle Travel Toiletries
What is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?

    Jordyn Garnett's avatar
    Jordyn Garnett 7/17/2022 6:23 PM
The benefit o f harming bar soaps or refilling existing containers is it’s a lot cheaper not to mention safer for the environment. I believe I will keep this action in life as it seems cost friendly
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Pets DIY Cat Litter
Other species can teach us important lessons about ourselves and life in general. What has your cat taught you?

    Jordyn Garnett's avatar
    Jordyn Garnett 7/17/2022 6:20 PM
To be more laid back and be wary of those you let into your personal spaces.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle Proper Bioplastic Disposal
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

    Jordyn Garnett's avatar
    Jordyn Garnett 7/17/2022 4:57 PM
How dangerous we are with our plastics, we have options to recycle yet most don’t do it or don't realize the community offers recycling pick up.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Family Get Rid of Glitter
How can you and your little one exercise your creativity without creating more plastic waste?

    Jordyn Garnett's avatar
    Jordyn Garnett 7/17/2022 4:56 PM
I don’t have kids, but I do have two little half siblings that tend to love art. Ways to get rid of glitter is by giving more variety of colors for them to choose from or using eco friendly glitter also known as “salt glitter”
