REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Clean Plate ClubHow easy was this swap for you? Did you have any concerns before making it?
JOHANNA KINNEY 7/27/2022 4:28 PMI made the swap from a liquid dish soap to bar dish soap and it was not difficult at all! -
JOHANNA KINNEY 7/27/2022 4:21 PMdaily walk - get steps in, get fresh air, clean up the community a bit! It's a win-win-win. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Go StrawlessHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
JOHANNA KINNEY 7/27/2022 4:18 PMHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
I think a lot of businesses in town have started to use more eco-friendly straws and are starting to not offer straws unless asked for. I use reusable straws at home and often gift them to friends and family, too. -
JOHANNA KINNEY 7/26/2022 11:41 AMI loved the beach clean up on Sunday! The rain held up and made it a really fun experience for me and my kiddo! Thanks ASLC for organizing these. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care That Was a Close ShaveWhat have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?
JOHANNA KINNEY 7/26/2022 11:40 AMI bought a steel razor last night and am excited to ditch the plastic disposable razors. The company I bought from even recycles the used blades for you. :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Say No to StyrofoamHow might styrofoam be an environmental justice and/or environmental racism issue in your community?
JOHANNA KINNEY 7/25/2022 4:29 PMStyrofoam is definitely cheaper and more accessible than to provide recycled or compostable products. The latter needs to be accessible to everyone, rather. And Styrofoam needs to be outlawed unless there is some lifesaving purpose it provides that I don't know of. ;-) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Join a Cleanup EffortHow does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?
JOHANNA KINNEY 7/25/2022 3:52 PMworking with others to clean up our community is totally inspiring! I involved my 9 year old to teach this practice to him as well. and it's pretty win-win, you get to be outside and get fresh air and help clean up your community. AND be an example to others watching you. -
JOHANNA KINNEY 7/14/2022 3:56 PMIt's not hard to pick up three pieces (or more) of litter a day! Every bit helps. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
JOHANNA KINNEY 7/05/2022 11:44 AMPicking up litter connects me to my community because I'm making the choice to not walk by a piece of trash and I'm taking action in picking it up. I'm also hoping that in doing so, someone will see me do this act and take it upon themselves to make that choice as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Use Reusables at WorkIt is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?
JOHANNA KINNEY 7/04/2022 3:16 PMI think just by putting the methods into practice and showing by action sets an example and mindset for others to see and consider and hopefully implement.
