I loved this challenge!  even though I wasn't able to check in everyday on line - I was actively working at reducing plastics in my life and in those around me as much as possible.  This has changed how I shop, how I handle my garbage and how I interact with my enviromment.

I compost every day!  and I've gotten my sisters, parents and my son to participate.  They save their scraps for my compost bin  =)

I've been working in my yard and have been composting as much as I can but I've also been re-purposing landscaping rocks and some of the bricks I have.  It's been fun to get creative and make something new!

    Lifestyle Complete a Waste Audit
What did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?

I found I am doing pretty good at recycling and composting.  So most of what goes to landfill is plastic.  Is there any other solution for plastic?  can it be burned? melted?  It's just so heartbreaking to see I'm still adding to the plastics problem.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Go Strawless
Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

This has been a challenge because so many places automatically give you a straw!

I am going to start a waste audit tomorrow to see what am I throwing away.  Very excited to see the results.  I also saw where you can do a food waste audit - what food are you wasting - that will be next!

What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

It's hard to get people motivated to take action when things don't effect them directly and in a negative way.  I try to express to my family every little effort, step, change makes a difference over time.  And just because we aren't suffering doesn't mean we can continue to take our resources for granted.  We can't just think that somebody else will fix it so we don't really have to worry.
