Community
Share My Actions
I will make my environmental actions visible by posting to my social media networks.
Lifestyle
Laundry Detergent Sheets
I will switch over to laundry detergent sheets that come in cardboard packaging. This will reduce the plastic waste from other laundry detergent pods or liquid.
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 5 piece(s) of litter each day.
Personal Care
Say No to "Flushable Wipes"
Wipes don't break down in sewer systems, but combine with fat to create massive clogs. I will find alternatives to using disposable wipes.
Lifestyle
Complete a Waste Audit
I will conduct a waste audit - including recyclables and compost - to understand how much waste I create and where I can reduce the most.
Food
Better Gum
I will give up gum or choose gum made from chicle or other plastic-free gum bases.
Food
Plant a Garden
I will plant a herb or vegetable garden using as little plastic as possible and to save from the plastic used buying herbs and veggies.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Share My ActionsHave you noticed a difference in how your community, friends, and family members use plastics since you've shared your own actions?
Jennifer Trevis 7/31/2022 1:14 PMI had a few people like and comment on my posts. This shows that it is reaching people and even people that I haven’t seen want to make a change in the past. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Complete a Waste AuditWhat did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?
Jennifer Trevis 7/26/2022 9:00 AMWhile I try to be as least wasteful as possible the waste audit really helped me realize there are still ways I can reduce. Coffee filters are a big one, especially knowing there are reusable coffee filters, this will also save money in the long run. Going to a farmers market and getting berries and other produce will also help reduce the plastic waste as I typically by berries in small plastic containers that aren’t always recyclable. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Say No to "Flushable Wipes"Even though they are marketed as "flushable," disposable wipes do not disintegrate in water or the sewer system, and actually release microplastics into our waterways. How does it feel to learn this information? What do you want to do about it?
Jennifer Trevis 7/10/2022 6:40 PMI feel like they are being false advertised and makes me rethink a lot of things I do/use and if they’re good for the environment or not. I want to let people know. I have friends and family that use them so I will definitely be spreading the word about how bad for the environment they are. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Better GumWhy do you chew gum? What habits could replace and meet your reasons for chewing gum?
Jennifer Trevis 7/08/2022 6:21 AMI find myself chewing gum when I’m bored or anxious. Or when I’m driving a longer distance. Instead of chewing gum I could try listening to more music, or an audio book or reading a book. Get a sudoku or crossword puzzle book. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Jennifer Trevis 7/04/2022 7:31 AMI know when I see people doing something good for the environment it makes me want to help out as well. So when I am picking up litter and people are around me I am able talk to them about why it is important and show them how easy it can be even if its just in their yard or while walking their dog. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Plant a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Jennifer Trevis 7/03/2022 9:10 AMLess plastic packaging. I started my garden from seeds and once the vegetables grow I will not be having to buy the pre-packaged ones with plastic. This will especially be beneficial for cherry tomatoes. I already try to buy them with as little plastic as possible but this will alleviate the plastic completely.
