Watershed's actions
Lifestyle
Ditch Dryer Sheets
I will use wool dryer balls or another plastic-free alternative to dryer sheets to keep my clothes static-free.
Lifestyle
Clean Plate Club
When I need to replace my dish soap, I will switch to a bar or refillable option.
Lifestyle
Travel Eating
If traveling, I will bring my own snacks and meals in my own containers to avoid the waste of take-out containers.
Family
Plastic Free Lunch Boxes
I will only pack reusable cutlery, drinkware and tupperware-like containers in my children's lunches to reduce plastic waste.
Personal Care
A Sustainable Flow
I will make the switch to sustainable, reusable period products.
Personal Care
Say No to "Flushable Wipes"
Wipes don't break down in sewer systems, but combine with fat to create massive clogs. I will find alternatives to using disposable wipes.
Personal Care
Sustainable Suds
I will replace my soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and lotions with a sustainable, unpackaged, or refillable option.
Community
Keep My Community Clean
I will pick up 5 piece(s) of litter each day.
Food
Fill a Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Food
Minimize Packaging
I will purchase food items with the least amount of packaging.
Food
Choose Reusable Food Storage
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Watershed Warriors 7/31/2022 6:29 PMLast day! Girls and I did our Sunday walk to the playground and picked up trash along the way. Even though the challenge is over, we will continue to work on keeping our community clean. -
Watershed Warriors 7/30/2022 6:52 PMToday my girls and I picked up trash on our way into Ocean Breeze. There were plenty of trash cans, so we didn’t understand why people didn’t use them. -
Watershed Warriors 7/29/2022 10:30 AMToday at watershed warriors we took a greener initiative and instead of using several coffee filters at our oyster filtration station we used just a few and placed the wet filters in the sun to dry. No need to use more than we need! -
Watershed Warriors 7/28/2022 2:04 PMI’m so happy that on our two dolphin watch trips we saw ZERO trash!

Watershed Warriors 7/27/2022 11:01 AMToday, while collecting in the creek for Watershed Warriors, my volunteers and I collected several plastic bags and wrappers that were washed in during the storm. It was sad to see so many periwinkle snails attached to garbage. We were able to remove the snails, place them in the creek safely, and dispose of the garbage appropriately.-

Watershed Warriors 7/26/2022 8:58 AMThis morning my girls and I made pancakes. Usually my oldest insist on a protein bar or something packaged, so this time we made the effort to cut down on how many food we eat that use excessive packaging. -
Watershed Warriors 7/25/2022 9:17 AMToday while volunteering we cleaned out a cabinet and were able to repurpose some materials that had been forgotten. No need to trash things if you make them into something new. -
Watershed Warriors 7/24/2022 12:20 PMToday, as we usually do on Sundays, the girls and I clean up the trash we saw on the way to the park. The great part about today was we saw way less trash than usual. It looks like we are making an impact! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Sustainable SudsWhat are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?
Watershed Warriors 7/23/2022 9:49 AMNot only do the bar soup and shampoo/conditioner last much longer than the bottles, but they take up significantly less space in my bathroom. My daughters also prefer the bar shampoo to the liquid because it is easier for them to use. All around, it's a win. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care A Sustainable FlowDisposable tampons and menstrual pads are often quite expensive. What are the economic and personal benefits of this switch for you?
Watershed Warriors 7/22/2022 11:47 AMUsing a cup has saved me about $10 a month in other products. By using bamboo lined underwear in combination with a menstrual cup, I only buy disposable products as needed for emergencies. The only issue is the initial costs, which is pretty high. A 32 pack of pads is $4 in comparison to a $20 pair of bamboo underwear, which is out of many people's budgets. I find this issue with disposable versus cloth diapers. Most people would be happy to make the switch if they could afford the initial cost.
