If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA-approved reusable quart-sized bag.

All Natural Pet Toys
I will give my pets natural alternatives to toys like femur bones and antlers, canvas, natural rubber, hemp, rope or cotton toys. Or make our own toys from recycled items found in our home!
Pets
Thrifty Pets
I will find secondhand sources for my pet's water/food dishes, collars or leashes.
Personal Care

I will spend 10 minutes learning about the costs of fast fashion and begin trying to practice sustainable fashion in my own life.
Personal Care

I will recycle used contact lenses and packaging.
Personal Care
Green Beauty
When it's time to buy more, I will replace my beauty products with refillable, sustainable, and/or DIY options.
Personal Care
Say No to "Flushable Wipes"
Wipes don't break down in sewer systems, but combine with fat to create massive clogs. I will find alternatives to using disposable wipes.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Green BeautyHow can you advocate for the importance of reducing packaging to the rest of your friends, family and larger community?
Crystal Tyree 7/28/2022 9:36 AMI have mentioned to family and friends that they need to try to look for the thinner packaging when they buy things. When they are over my place and want to try some of the left-overs and there is only a little left. I tell them to just warm it up in the container instead of putting it on a paper plate like they mentioned wanting to do. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Get Rid of GlitterHow can you and your little one exercise your creativity without creating more plastic waste?
Crystal Tyree 7/28/2022 9:34 AMWe have been going on "scavenger hunts" for natural items to help us do projects with. Like leaves, sticks, rocks, sand and even dirt!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Minimize PackagingWith the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?
Crystal Tyree 7/28/2022 9:33 AMI have noticed that some of the stores are switching to thinner plastics that they package their product in. Or they are using biodegradable materials to package their items in. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Go StrawlessHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Crystal Tyree 7/28/2022 9:31 AMMy community isn't one of the ones that are huge on "saving the planet". There are a few of us that are trying to be more positive and finding ways to help. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Choose Reusable Food StorageHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Crystal Tyree 7/28/2022 9:30 AMYou can think of alternate ways to use them instead of throwing them away. A quick look on Pinterest for some ideas! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Plastic Free Lunch BoxesMost of us know that the "3 R's" are reduce, reuse, recycle. Recycling is most heavily emphasized in modern Western culture. How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Crystal Tyree 7/28/2022 9:29 AMGrowing up, My parents didn't recycle. But as I grew up and started a family of my own, I started to. I started to reuse things, repurpose, refuse, repair. I would wash the butter containers and reuse them to store other things. I would replace the fabric on the cushions to make the chairs last longer (and not add to the landfills) I started refusing extra straws then straws at all! Instead of throwing things away when they stopped working, I would try to fix them to use them again. They were already not working! What's the worse that can happen!? -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Sustainable Suds: Pet EditionIn what ways does your pet make your life happier, more interesting, or more rewarding?
Crystal Tyree 7/08/2022 12:36 PMMy pets keep me entertained and always keep me on my toes with what they are going to do next! They are always wanting to snuggle and spend time with me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPets Thrifty PetsHow does buying used differ from buying new? How does each purchasing decision make you feel?
Crystal Tyree 7/08/2022 12:35 PMBuying used helps to get the full life out of some toys and items that the pet may not use anymore and helps to save money from buying new ones or save room in the landfills by throwing it away. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Practice Sustainable FashionHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
Crystal Tyree 7/08/2022 12:33 PMI can alter some of the looks of my current fashion pieces to make "new ones" that others may even want to learn how to do -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Complete a Waste AuditWhat did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?
Crystal Tyree 7/08/2022 12:32 PMI used to use alot of paper plates when I would re-heat my lunch I brought into work. Instead I just heat it up in the container that I brought it in with!
