It was fun to work with other people dedicated to the health of the ocean and beaches! We used Sea Turtle Forever's patented screening technology to filter microplastics out of the sand. It was alarming just how many bits of plastic there are at the high tide line!

My dog absolutely loves dehydrated sweet potato slices! It's a win-win because making them at home is better for the environment and they're more economical than many packaged treats. I also buy her yak milk bone chews in bulk so there is no packaging.

It's going great! I tend to think sustainably by default, but participating in the challenge and having teammates with daily goals and check-ins really supercharges me!

I walk every day and pick up litter often. Admittedly, some days I'm more committed than others, especially since one hand is always holding the leash of my canine walking buddy. :-) On Sunday I picked up every single thing I saw, including the cigarette butts. I found ELEVEN of them just walking around the block in a nice residential neighborhood. I wish that people knew these things don't decompose; the filters are made from synthetic fibers and are loaded with toxic chemicals that pollute our water and poison wildlife. How can we make people more aware?! I once read that as many as 2-billion butts are littered every single day. I would love to see some billboards or commercials on this! Perhaps even a note printed on cigarette packages. Fingers crossed for greater awareness (and personal responsibility) in the future.

It's discouraging to be cleaning up after other people, but it feels much better than walking past it. PLUS I am setting an example for others and it starts a ripple. What if everyone picked up what they saw?!!!
