Tesa's actions
Food
Choose Reusable Food Storage
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Food
Skip Plastic Bags
When possible, I will not use disposable bags when shopping, including produce bags.
Personal Care
Green Beauty
When it's time to buy more, I will replace my beauty products with refillable, sustainable, and/or DIY options.
Personal Care
Practice Sustainable Fashion
I will spend 45 minutes learning about the costs of fast fashion and begin trying to practice sustainable fashion in my own life.
Personal Care
Say No to "Flushable Wipes"
Wipes don't break down in sewer systems, but combine with fat to create massive clogs. I will find alternatives to using disposable wipes.
Community
Become a Recycling Pro
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 30 minutes researching which materials are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community and recycle only those items.
Food
Go Strawless
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own reusable straw.
Food
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own travel cup.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

Tesa Golden 7/09/2022 7:58 AMI sent a box of clothes to ThredUp today. I like to keep things out of our landfill. I feel certain that some plastics didn't have to be used, like hangers and stuff because folks are buying from ThredUp and not a retail establishment. I order items and they come in a box, then I fill the box with clothes I don't want anymore and send it back. It's not cheap. I'm not saving any money, but I feel like I'm doing right by the planet. -

Tesa Golden 7/03/2022 7:21 AMOccasionally, my son and I like to go to Smoothie King. Since we are trying to make changes, we made them at home. I need to find a better recipe because these weren't that great. I think the protein powder that I used gave it an odd flavor and an after taste. We tried and that's what this month is all about. Making changes. -

Tesa Golden 7/03/2022 7:25 AMI found a bunch in the parking lot where the boat dock was located. But, I didn't find anything on the water. My hypothesis is that it all moves to the shore. -
Amy Daley 7/02/2022 5:31 PMWay to go, Tesa. And I love that you used your Sea Turtle Inc. bag - I am curious, did you find a lot of trash?
