Rebecca's actions
Food
Use Reusable Utensils
I will keep 2 plastic cutlery out of the landfill per day by using my own reusable cutlery.
Food
Switch to Loose Leaf Tea
Because many tea bags and most sleeves and sachets contain plastic, I will switch to using loose leaf tea.
Food
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 5 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own travel cup.
Food
Fill a Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 3 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Food
Choose Reusable Food Storage
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Food
Skip Plastic Bags
When possible, I will not use disposable bags when shopping, including produce bags.
Food
Better Gum
I will give up gum or choose gum made from chicle or other plastic-free gum bases.
Personal Care
Sustainable Suds
I will replace my soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and lotions with a sustainable, unpackaged, or refillable option.
Food
Cook a Plastic Free Meal
I will prepare meals at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Rebecca Kalitz 7/10/2022 6:20 AMWe have been able to remove alot of single use plastics from our kitchen. One of our favorite additions have been our reusable chopsticks. My kids love they each have their own color!-
Alexis DeRose 7/11/2022 2:08 PMI love the idea of reusable chopsticks!! I’ll have to keep an eye out for them when I go shopping, that way I can skip the single use utensils when I order sushi! -
Elizabeth Hann 7/11/2022 12:57 PMI love having reusable chop sticks! I sometime prefer to eat food with chopsticks now that I have them in the house all of the time lol

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Rebecca Kalitz 7/03/2022 5:23 AMI use my reusable bags when I go to all stores, even before the Plastic bag ban in NJ. My kids also fight over who gets to put the groceries in the reusable bags at the store. Guess that’s a win too 😊
