Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Why do you chew gum? What habits could replace and meet your reasons for chewing gum?

Mainly when I get bored or am driving long distances.  I have found if I do not buy it---I don't crave it as much
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
It is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?

    Kim Leser's avatar
    Kim Leser 7/29/2022 9:31 AM
Bring your silverware with you to places that do not offer reusable dishes.  Weird the first few times but not bad!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle
How easy was this swap for you? Did you have any concerns before making it?

    Kim Leser's avatar
    Kim Leser 7/29/2022 9:30 AM
Actually--- pretty easy!  Helps when you are accountable like with this ecochallenge
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Pets
In what ways is supplying your pet with all natural pet toys better for your pet, better for you, and better for the environment?

    Kim Leser's avatar
    Kim Leser 7/29/2022 9:29 AM
We support repurposed enrichment even for pets!  Offering natural options keeps things out of the landfill and is better for the animals.  Unnatural material can be toxic or cause problems if ingested..
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle
What is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?

    Kim Leser's avatar
    Kim Leser 7/29/2022 9:27 AM
Super easy!  I don't like using the small ones anyway so having refillable ones allow me to fill them with what I want.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle
What did you learn by making your own cleaning products? What is the biggest difference in making vs buying?

    Kim Leser's avatar
    Kim Leser 7/29/2022 9:25 AM
Honestly, it helps with my headaches.  Too many cleansers have scents added that aggravate my migraines.  By making my own, I can chose options that are not as potent.

I feel you. I don't get migraines, but smells and scents are really hard on my sensitive nose and I get nausea and a few other things.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
What did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?

    Kim Leser's avatar
    Kim Leser 7/29/2022 9:24 AM
Using the calculate creates a better more exact amount of consumption.  It helped show areas I had not thought about in regards to plastic.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
Have you noticed a difference in how your community, friends, and family members use plastics since you've shared your own actions?

    Kim Leser's avatar
    Kim Leser 7/29/2022 9:22 AM
Surprisingly, yes.  My family usually does basic things like recycling but since I have been conscience of buying less plastics, so has my family.  There is usually a joke about picking one I would prefer but they chose the better option and that is what counts!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Lifestyle
Was this action easy or difficult to do? How did it change your travel experience?

    Kim Leser's avatar
    Kim Leser 7/28/2022 6:32 AM
I recently traveled by car for vacation.  I prepacked snacks in reusable containers.  I stopped only for gas and breaks and spent less on road trip food.  It was pretty easy and when I returned, I simply used the same containers for new snacks
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
