Every Tu and F several volunteer help clean the PO. We are going through the trash and recycling mixed paper. It’s a huge job and need to come up with a better system. Any ideas?

    Community Keep My Community Clean
How does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?

I think it's important to demonstrate and reflect the things you would like to see in your community, and picking up litter is a great example of that. On my way to work on Thursday, I found a gull about to stick his head in a plastic bag. People watched, but didn't engage. I was late to work, but I was able to scare the gull off and clean the bag up. Just showing people how easy it is to take that step, especially in your own community, is important.

I made the swap from a liquid dish soap to bar dish soap and it was not difficult at all!

I think a lot of businesses in town have started to use more eco-friendly straws and are starting to not offer straws unless asked for.  I use reusable straws at home and often gift them to friends and family, too.

I loved the beach clean up on Sunday!  The rain held up and made it a really fun experience for me and my kiddo! Thanks ASLC for organizing these.

Personal Care That Was a Close Shave
What have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?

I bought a steel razor last night and am excited to ditch the plastic disposable razors.  The company I bought from even recycles the used blades for you.  :)
