Thus week was a busy week that I did not have enough time to meal prep. I am disappointed but determined to finish strong.

We have recently reduced our consumption of soda which has greatly decreased how many bottles and cans we are producing.

    Personal Care Sustainable Suds
What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

The refillable shampoo options are high-quality, but I find them to be more expensive that many mainstream shampoo options. I like having a low waste option, but I wish they were more affordable.

    Food Skip Plastic Bags
How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

Skipping the plastic bags is easy— as long as I remember to put my reusable bags back in the car after I use them. I started hanging my reusable bags on the inside front door knob of the house after emptying them, which makes it almost impossible for me to forget them when I leave the house.  If I forget the reusable bags in the car when I go in the store, I walk back out and get them or I skip the bag altogether if it’s just a few items.  It’s not a perfect system, but it is working for me.

Swapping unwanted items with friends and family is a great way to ensure items don't end up in the landfill.

If there is nothing wrong with the item, why not?!  I love helping people when I can by offering slightly used items that I no longer use, so it's a win to get that from others!

spent the morning hunting for shark teeth and trash at Caspersen Beach- found both, but am happy to say that I found more teeth than trash. Also was able to witness a sea turtle (Loggerhead) rescue and release- which was an unexpected, and awesome, bonus to an already fantastic morning! :)

    Food Use Reusables at Work
It is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?

I've been trying to be more mindful of my plastic use at work events by bringing my own reusables to team meetings.
