Nicole Hellmuth 7/30/2022 6:01 PMTomorrow is the last day of Plastic Free July. I'm thankful that I will continue learning and bettering myself past the challege! -
Nicole Hellmuth 7/29/2022 8:03 PMTime for a new set of glasses! I wonder if I'll be able to find frames made of recycled material 👀-
Nicole Hellmuth 7/30/2022 6:02 PMWow, this is so interesting Claudia! Thank you! -
Claudia Zimmermann 7/30/2022 2:04 AMThanks so much for this post, I have not thought about it and need to get new glasses, too. I have found a shop in my hometown and made an appointment for next week. The frames are of cotton or titan, Was not aware that sustainable glasses exist. Hope you also find something near. The brand is VIU but I cannot find a shop in the US. They always direct me to the German shops.

REFLECTION QUESTIONLifestyle Complete a Waste AuditWhat did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?
Nicole Hellmuth 7/29/2022 8:01 PMMy family uses a lot of napkins and paper towels! I think that's a fairly easier fix, just a little extra work maybe. The non recyclable plastics was a surprise. I think a good amount it from my supposedly ecofriendly HelloFresh deliveries that aren't quite what is advertised. Now that I know the basics of cooking, it may be time to prep meals differently! -
Nicole Hellmuth 7/28/2022 6:52 PMTomorrow I'll be tallying up the results of my family's waste audit. In will be interesting to see the results! -
Nicole Hellmuth 7/27/2022 5:36 PMLess than a week left of Plastic July already! Where has the time gone!? Still planning on hosting a movie night. Which documentary do we recommend? -
Nicole Hellmuth 7/26/2022 6:16 PMA family member is cleaning out their house and looking to find some items new homes. I needed a new dresser and now, rather than buying new, I'm getting a free dresser with family history. Wins all-round! My childhood dresser will be donated and get a second life as well! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Nicole Hellmuth 7/26/2022 6:11 PMPicking up litter gets me out there! I'm more likely to see people! And a cleaner environment is a more friendly and safe environment for all. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFamily Learn about Environmental JusticeWhat did you and your family learn about environmental justice? What questions came up for you? What feelings?
Nicole Hellmuth 7/26/2022 6:10 PMWatching a documentary last year, I remember some disadvantaged communities dealing with rising sea levels. I found the statistic about landfills in lower class communities startling. I had so many questions, mostly revolving around what can be done to help. I felt very sad and helpless, as this is a large issue that goes beyond the basic environmental situations. -
Nicole Hellmuth 7/25/2022 3:27 PMUnpacked my hiking bag and washed all of my reusable containers I brought along. They may add extra weight, but it's all worth it to know I'm going that extra mile to take care of the planet!
