My small garden has been a great success this summer. I have shared rhubarb, lettuce, basil, parsley and oregano with friends, neighbours and family. I will soon have cucumbers, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, etc. to share. Gardening is a really simple way to share produce, recipes and create conversations.

Food Cook a Plastic Free Meal
Do an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?

I found this challenge to be harder than I expected, especially for produce.  It made me realize just how many plastic vegetable bags I actually use (even though I do re-purpose them).  I searched online and found a couple of patterns to crochet my own produce bags . . . my next project!

Prepackaged snacks add more waste, are sometimes less healthy for you, and also tend to cost more.

After a hard rain, there always seems to be more litter exposed.

Picking up litter always gives me a sense of pride for where I live and work. And it is one more piece of trash that won't end up in our waterways.
