Katy Runnells 8/01/2022 1:51 PMA lot of the plastic free challenges are things I already do but I learned about some other ways I can incorporate as well! -
Ty Lopez 7/31/2022 6:41 PMWill thought about what this month taught me. It may take time to make changes in my life. But with a little help, I know I can do it. To understand and learned how to use reusable plastic. -
Susan Rubin 7/31/2022 6:35 AMI have been sharing my journey this year about the Plastic Eco Challenge with many in person. At work, at the gym and at Reid Park Zoo.-

Susan Rubin 7/31/2022 6:33 AMPlastic is showing up inside of fish and other aquatic life. We need reduce and properly dispose these plastics due to the harm it does on our oceans and our planet.-
Claudia Zimmermann 7/31/2022 7:09 AMJust see that you are vegan, Susan. Hope I have not hurt your feelings, was not my intention😔. I know that a lot of vegans cook fresh food, but there are also a lot of plastic items in the shelf at the supermarkets. 🥰 -
Susan Rubin 7/31/2022 12:35 PMThank you for responding Claudia. I eat a lot of salads and veggies. Although I do rely on veggie burgers for protein; they come in a box and have less packaging than raw meat. I gradually reduced what I ate. Never ate pork products. Started with no meat, followed by poultry and lastly fish. Once I got there I replaced dairy with almond milk, soy cheese and other vegan options. -
Claudia Zimmermann 7/31/2022 7:01 AMFully agree. During this challenge I saw a lot of movies and photos of birds with stomach full of plastic. It is awful what we as humans are doing to other creatures. We are going vegan to avoid that we harm animals but buy a lot of processed vegan food wrapped in plastic.

Susan Rubin 7/31/2022 6:32 AMNatural fibers are usually more comfortable to wear. Hemp would be a great material to make clothing. It could be the next thing agriculturally we could even export to support our economy.-
Susan Rubin 7/31/2022 12:38 PMHemp is an amazing product. It grows like a weed and needs less pesticides than cotton. However, it is related to Marijuana. It still is not a good excuse. -
Claudia Zimmermann 7/31/2022 7:04 AMIn Europe you can already buy shirts etc from Hemp. I have never tried it, but is on my list now. Hemp is a wonderful plant, grows fast as bamboo and you can use the whole plant. Our ancestors made their clothes from it, why can't we??

Susan Rubin 7/31/2022 6:30 AMThere are some amazing people in the world who can but all of their waste in the two palms of their hands. Someday I will be able to do that.-
Claudia Zimmermann 7/31/2022 7:05 AMPlease let me know next year how you did it. I have the feeling I will never reach Zero waste. -

Susan Rubin 7/31/2022 6:29 AMBeing vegan also includes not wearing leather, eating honey and no wool. It is a continual process you keep healthy, protect animal from cruelty and understand how your daily choices make a difference. -
Susan Rubin 7/31/2022 6:27 AMWhen I was a junior in high school I started my journey from vegetarian to being a vegan.
